Abstract

People from various cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds peacefully coexist in the United Arab Emirates. Even though there are cultural and religious differences among different nationalities, there is no difference between them in terms of education or work.  UAE is in general widely known as a multicultural country due to its diverse population which includes nationalities from two hundred different countries.  Foreign nationalities are accommodated in different sectors like construction, health care, education and so on. Government policies contribute to tolerance and peaceful coexistence of Emiratis and foreign nationals. UAE recruit workers from different countries for the country’s development.  This article aims (1) to analyse the nature and existence of multiculturalism in UAE, (2) to understand the challenges and needs of multiculturalism through secondary reviews, and (3) to explore the initiatives and activities for national integration in UAE.
