Abstract

This article examines various Polish translations of A. A. Milne`s classic book Winnie-the-Pooh, with a particular focus on cultural differences and their impact on the reader. The study explores how translators navigated linguistic challenges in particular proper names, cultural references, and the whimsical tone of the original text to adapt it for Polish audiences. By analysing multiple translations, including the author`s own translation, the research highlights shifts in meaning, localization of cultural elements, and the preservation of the book`s charm and humour. This work contributes to the field of translation studies by showcasing how children`s literature serves as a lens for understanding cross-cultural communication and the creative process involved in literary adaptation.
