Outdoor education, an approach that takes students beyond the traditional classroom and immerses them in nature, is increasingly being recognized as an innovative teaching method worldwide. This experiential learning model has gained traction in various educational systems, incorporating outdoor activities such as field trips, camping, and nature-based lessons into the curriculum. In Poland, outdoor education is being integrated into schools to foster a deeper connection between students and the natural environment.
This method has shown particular promise in foreign language teaching, providing students with an authentic, engaging context to develop language skills. By learning in natural settings, students are able to practice language in real-world scenarios, enhancing both their linguistic and cultural competencies. The research will explore the effectiveness of outdoor education in improving foreign language acquisition, focusing on student engagement, motivation, and overall academic performance. Preliminary findings suggest that students exhibit higher levels of enthusiasm when participating in outdoor lessons, leading to increased retention and a stronger connection to the material. Moreover, the natural environment fosters collaboration and communication, further enriching the language-learning experience. In this article, the analysis of such an approach will be presented, highlighting its potential as a transformative tool in foreign language teaching.
