Abstract

Noise is a sound with frequencies from 16 Hz to 16,000 Hz. In addition, the slogan can also be used to describe any unwanted noise that is harmful to human beings, which negatively affects the hearing organ and other senses, and often disturbs the proper functioning of the whole organism. Depending on the source of its origin, the noise can be divided into: communication noise and industrial noise. In addition, the following categories of traffic noise can be distinguished: road (street), rail (rail, tram) and air. The article presents selected measurements of road noise in Poland according to the 2015 study, broken down into national, provincial and other roads (poviat, commune, local), taking into account the time of day and night. In addition, it should be mentioned that measurements of road noise are carried out both by the Provincial Inspectorates for Environmental Protection as part of monitoring or control, as well as road managers.
