Abstract

The paper concerns modelling of the translational and rotational positioning process of cuboidal objects with the system of adjacent conveyors. During the theoretical analysis, the friction model available in the MSC Adams environment was taken into account. The process of translational positioning is carried out with two conveyors with such selected velocities to ensure static friction state and minimize the influence of inertia forces on the object motion. Rotational positioning is performed by a system of two adjacent conveyors moving in opposite directions. By properly selecting the acceleration of the belt motion and the time of carrying out this movement, it is possible to precisely move and rotate the object from the initial position to the given end position. The results of numerical tests show that the coefficient of friction of an object does not have a significant effect on the course of the rotation process. In case of rotational positioning of objects with different external dimensions, individual selection of conveyors motion parameters is required for each possible configuration of object dimensions.
