OPEN ACCESS

The journal offers access to the contents in the open access system on the principles of non-exclusive license Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0).

PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

Since 2017 the journal is published half-yearly. In 2016 it was published on annual basis.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Articles submitted for possible publication are subjected to a double-blind, peer review process which is consistent with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland and includes the two steps:

The formal, technical and merits assessment of submitted scientific articles by the editorial board.

  • The scientific article should correspond to the journal profile.
  • The article should have a scientific or review character (present the current state of knowledge, research methodology, the course of the research process, results and conclusions, with reference to the cited literature, prepared in the APA style).
  • The article can be written in Polish or English (only British English is accepted) using a template adapted to the selected language, available in the downloads.
  • The article should meet ethical standards specified on the journal's website.
  • The article should also meet the journal editorial standards presented in template with editorial standards available in downloads.
  • The editors reserve the right to reject a low quality manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned guidelines.

Article evaluation prepared by two independent, external reviewers, experts in the given academic field. The reviewers are not affiliated with the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management Nicolaus Copernicus University and with the research center represented by the author.

  • Authors and reviewers do not know their identity (double-blind review process).
  • The list of reviewers for each volume is published in the electronic version of the journal and on its website. The list of reviewers for each number is not disclosed.
  • Form of review which fills reviewer during the review process is available in downloads.
  • Review has a written character and clearly indicate whether the article is suitable for publication, whether it requires adjustment or whether reviewed text is not suitable for publication.
  • Eligibility criteria of scientific articles publication are listed on the journal's website.
  • Based on the results of the evaluation, the editorial board decides whether the article is suitable for publication, whether it requires adjustment or whether reviewed text is not suitable for publication.

SUBMISSION FEE

There are no submission or publication fees.

COPYRIGHT POLICY

Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a copyright transfer agreement that specifies detailed descriptions of the copyright transfer. The agreement is available in downloads. Acceptance of the consent to the transfer of copyrights ensures the widest possible distribution of information contained in the article.

RE-PUBLICATION

The authors can decide about eventual re-publication of their article. In case of re-publication no changes and modifications can be made, moreover an appropriate reference of the original publication is requested.

PLAGIARISM

By submitting the manuscript the authors declare that the text is their original work, does not contain any plagiarism and has not been published in or submitted to any other journal. The editor scans all submitted papers in order to detect plagiarism. If plagiarism is found, a whole article will be removed from the journal and replaced with a note indicating authors´ names and description of plagiarism. Authors and their institutions will be notified.

SIMILARITY CHECK

The journal content is indexed in Similarity Check, the CrossRef initiative to prevent scholarly and professional plagiarism.

RETRACTION POLICY

The editorial board of Catallaxy journal is committed to uphold the integrity of the literature and publishes editorially significant correction dependent on the situation. In all cases, the original articles will be removed and replaced with a note stating the reason of retraction and with corrected version. Since the journal was created, no changes have been made to the published content.

DIGITAL PRESERVATION

The journal is digitally preserved by the  Economic Publishing Platform since 2016. All printed issues of journal are preserved by the National Library of Poland.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

The editorial board of the Catallaxy journal implements the best standards of publication ethics and take all possible measures against publication malpractices. The Catallaxy journal has adopted and applies the principles of publication ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process (editors, author, reviewer and publisher) should become familiar with the standards of ethical behavior used in the Catallaxy journal.

Duties and responsibilities of editors

  • The editorial and scientific board of the journal consist of members who are recognized experts in the field. The full names and affiliations of the members are provided on the journal’s website.
  • The journal provides contact information for the editorial office on the journal’s website.
  • The editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. Editor should evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. Editors´ decision to accept or reject a paper for publication should be based only on the paper´s  importance, originality and clarity, and the study´s relevance to the aim of journal.
  • All of a journal’s content is subjected to double blind peer-review process before publication. Peer-review is defined as obtaining advice on individual manuscripts from reviewers’ expert in the field. It is clearly described on the journal’s website.
  • The criteria for evaluating the article are objective. The review form is available in downloads.
  • Editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher. Editors will ensure that material submitted remains confidential while under review.
  • Publishers and editors take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred. In no case the journal editors will encourage such misconduct, or knowingly allow such misconduct to take place.
  • In the event that a journal’s publisher or editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct the publisher or editor shall deal with allegations appropriately.
  • The journal have guidelines for retracting or correcting articles when needed, described on the journal’s website.
  • Publishers and editors are always encouraged to be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.
  • The editorial board will ensure digital preservation of access to the journal content by the Economic Publishing Platform.
  • Copyright and licensing information are described on the journal’s website.
  • The journal is owned by the Instytut Badań Gospodarczych. This information is clearly indicated on the journal’s website.
  • The publisher does not use organizational names that would mislead potential authors and editors about the nature of the journal’s owner.
  • A journal’s website, including the text that it contains, demonstrates that care has been taken to ensure high ethical and professional standards.
  • The half-yearly periodicity at which a journal publishes is clearly indicated on the journal’s website.
  • The journal name is unique and is not one that is easily confused with another journal or that might mislead potential authors and readers about the journal’s origin or association with other journals.

Duties and responsibilities of authors

  • The authors do not bear any fees for submitting and publishing the article.
  • The journal offers access to the contents in the open access system on the principles of non-exclusive license Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0). There are no fees to pay by the readers.
  • The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. The authors are requested to disclose the following information: funding sources of the article, names of the people or institution that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported paper and whether the article was presented in another form, such as a poster/abstract at a conference.
  • Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the developing the concept and designing the study, collecting the data, analysing and interpreting the data, preparing the draft of article, revising the article critically for important intellectual content.
  • All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
  • All authors are obliged to report to the editorial board every significant errors discovered in their own work and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. If the editor or the publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains a significant error, it is the obligation of the author to promptly retract or correct the paper or provide evidence to the editor of the correctness of the original paper.

Duties and responsibilities of reviewers

  • Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the article or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
  • Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor. Informations disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer's own research without consent of the author.
  • Reviews should be conducted objectively. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  • Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  • Reviewers should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
  • Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Publisher's confirmation

In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication or plagiarism the publisher, in close collaboration with the editors, will take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and to amend the article in question. This includes the prompt publication of an erratum or, in the most severe cases, the complete retraction of the affected work.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA (GDPR)

According to Art. 13, paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (GDPR) (OJ L 119, 4.5.2016) the journal's editorial office informs that:

  • the administrator of your personal data is the editorial office of the journal Catallaxy, headquarters: Institute of Economic Research, ul. Ks. Roberta Bilitewskiego, nr 5, lok. 19, 10-693 Olsztyn, Poland;
  • the controller responsible for the protection of personal data is the editorial board of the journal Catallaxy (e-mail);
  • your personal data are processed for the purpose of executing the process of publishing/reviewing the work of which you are the author/co-author/reviewer, i.e. where you have acted as an author/reviewer, making the data available to other subjects involved in the publishing process and to abstracting and indexing services, published on the journal's website as the original source of these data in line with Art. 6, paragraph 1, point 1a of GDPR;
  • the recipients of your personal data will be: readers of the journal Catallaxy, users of the Economic Publishing Platform, other subjects connected with the publishing process, users of the abstracting and indexing services, published on the journal’s website as the original source of these data;
  • your personal data will be stored for the period of active life of the Catallaxy editorial office and subsequent five years;
  • you have the right to access your data as well as the right to rectification, erasure, termination of processing, transfer of data, raise an objection, withdraw the consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal;
  • you have the right to lodge a complaint to the Office for Personal Data Protection whenever you conclude that the processing of your data constitutes an infringement of provisions of the GDPR of 27 April 2016;
  • providing personal data is a condition for having the submitted article of which you are an author/co-author or a reviewer published. You are obliged to provide the requested personal data, and a consequence of refraining from this obligation will be the refusal of publishing your article or accepting your review by the editorial board of the journal Catallaxy.
