Carpooling ? competition for public transport? Analysis of satisfaction of people travelling together

Abstract

Travelling together is more and more popular form of transport in Poland. There are a lot of benefits resulting from carpooling: for carpooling participants, road users and for the environment. Does carpooling have a chance to influence the demand decline in public transport? This article is devoted to the description of the idea of car-pooling, the analysis of benefits and disadvantages resulting from this form of travelling and contains online questionnaire research results made by author of the article. The purpose of research was to know the satisfaction of people using carpooling, their experiences related to it, the motives of making this form of travel and the identification of social groups most willing to use carpooling.
